One set of springs for every way the mark moves.

The fold from the name to the mark, two ways, left-anchored for the nav and centered for film. Then the name and the mark building in and out on their own. Every move here runs on the same springs, and each one starts from the state of the one before it.

v2. F reaches for H.

Scroll inside the frame. The logo folds after 24px and opens again at the top.

WordmarkFoldingMarkOpening

FUTURE’s letters lie down onto the center line, starting at F, and each spreads into a short dash. F’s arm reaches out through the dashes. As it comes, H lets go of its own left stem, and the arm takes hold of H’s bar. The arm’s speed at that moment becomes H’s first push, so H comes in already moving and stops dead against F. HUMAN rides with H as one piece and slides in behind its right stem. The line never runs past H.

Opening is the same parts in the same spirit. H is pushed back out and HUMAN streams out behind it the whole way. F’s arm draws back into F. FUTURE stands up in reading order, one even beat apart. Each dash gathers back into its letter as the letter stands, so nothing is left on the line, and the dot closes last.

Left-anchored

v3. Everything folds into H, then they meet.

WordmarkFoldingMarkOpening

Both words fold into H, each as one piece, so the letters keep their spacing the whole way. H takes in its own word first: HUMAN slides left behind its right stem. FUTURE and the dot follow a beat later, sliding right behind its left stem. With the name folded away, H drops its own left stem. H’s bar and F’s arm reach for each other and meet halfway, and the joined bar draws H home.

v2 centered

WordmarkFoldingMarkOpening

v3 centered

WordmarkFoldingMarkOpening

Same folds, framed from the center. The frame follows H’s travel exactly, so the two initials close on each other and the mark lands in the middle of the frame. It never drifts or corrects after it lands.

Start and end on the dot

The dot at the center.

DotBuildingBuiltTo the dot

To the dot: the letters beside the dot lie down first, a ripple running out to both ends, and a line runs out of the dot under them. It only passes a letter that is already down. When the whole name lies on it, the line draws back into the dot and takes the name with it. Out of the dot: the line runs out to both ends and draws back, laying each letter down behind it, and each one stands up as the line leaves it. The name rises from its ends toward the dot, and no line ever runs through a standing letter.

DotBuildingBuiltTo the dot

The dot sits at the exact center of the mark: the bar’s center is the mark’s center. It opens into the bar, the shared stem rises, the right stem follows, the top bar runs out. It closes back the other way, and the dot stays.

NameName to markMarkMark to name

The name and the mark share one dot. The name goes back into its dot, the frame settles on it, and the same dot opens into the mark. Back the other way, the mark closes to the dot and the name comes out of it.

Liquid · magnet · heartbeat

More expressive.

DotBuildingBuiltTo the dot

Cell. The dot behaves like a liquid. To build, it buds a droplet for each letter, farthest first. Each droplet travels out, stretches under its letter, and the letter stands up from it. Back to the dot, each letter lies down into a droplet, and the dot pulls them in. They move slowly while far off and faster as they close in, running together as they meet.

WordmarkFoldingMarkOpening

Magnet. A fold with a different force behind it. F’s arm pulls. FUTURE lies down into droplets that are drawn into the arm, faster the closer they get. Then H is drawn in the same way: it starts slow, gathers speed, and a bridge reaches across just before its bar meets the arm. It clicks home. To open, H is pushed away and F breathes the droplets back out, farthest first.

DotBuildingBuiltTo the dot

Heartbeat. The dot beats twice before it opens, a strong beat and a softer one, the way a pulse does. Then the mark builds from it on the same springs as everything else. Closing, the mark folds back to the dot and the dot gives one last quiet beat.

  • Nothing rotates, scales or fades. Shapes move, extend and retract.
  • F never moves in the nav. In a centered frame the frame follows H.
  • Liquid moments stay on the center line and never get thicker than the bar. A neck thinner than a hairline breaks.
  • The opening at the top of the mark stays open in every frame.
  • One solid path in every frame. The dot is the rest state.
  • No spring creeps. Each one aims a hair past its rest and stops dead on it, so nothing lingers half-formed.
  • A dash exists only under a letter that is mostly down. A line never crosses a standing letter.
